Mijn naam is Matthijs Horlings. Sinds 2008 loop ik al hard, maar sinds 2012 loop ik ook frequent. Ik ben ooit begonnen met de Dam tot Damloop. Direct 10 Engelse mijlen meedoen met een business run.
Achteraf had ik enorme spierpijn, maar ik had hem wel helemaal hardlopend volbracht in 1:36:45.
Ik was zo onder de indruk van het evenement, de sportieve bezigheid, het goede gevoel achteraf en mijn eigen prestatie. Ik wilde meer... Dit duurde alleen toen wel tot de volgende Damloop. Later volgde ook de Zevenheuvelenloop en kreeg ik langzaam de smaak te pakken. Sinds 2012 loop ik eigenlijk ieder weekend een wedstrijd of evenement, gewoon omdat ik daar zo van geniet. En omdat het met de Damloop allemaal begonnen is loop ik deze nog steeds elk jaar en heb ik mij tot dus ver ieder jaar verbeterd tijdens de Damloop. De scherpste Damloop tijd staat bij mij nu op 1:03:32. Ook dit jaar staat mijn 9e editie alweer ingepland.
Na zoveel jaar hardlopen heb ik al veel geleerd en veel ervaring. Van 5 km t/m de marathon en van Strongmanrun tot Sprinttriathlon. De ervaring is zeer breed.
